Octopus are voracious predators with a high reproductive capacity. They are not part of the traditional British cuisine but are popular in many others, such as the Mediterranean cuisine. The species depicted in the illustration is unlikely to be sourced in Cornwall however, the curled octopus, Eledone cirrhosa is frequently caught in nets and pots. If we are able to source the Mediterranean octopus depicted, we will notify subscribers by email. Cornwall Good Seafood Guide rates them as of concern and to be eaten very occasionally.
