These small to medium-sized fish boast a striking appearance with their distinctive blue-black upper body and silvery-white underside, which makes them easily recognizable. Their bodies are elongated and slightly compressed, and they are typically around 20 to 40 centimeters (8 to 16 inches) in length, although larger individuals have been documented.
Black bream are known for their slow growth and longevity, often residing in nearshore coastal waters, rocky environments, and estuaries. Their feeding habits are opportunistic, primarily consisting of small crustaceans, mollusks, and various invertebrates found in their habitat.
The mild and delicate flavor of black bream makes them a favorite in the kitchen, as they can be prepared in a variety of ways, including grilling, baking, or pan-frying. However, to ensure the sustainability of black bream populations, it is crucial for anglers and fishermen to adhere to local fishing regulations and guidelines where these fish are found.
Each package in your order is labelled with the name of the vessel, or group of vessels, responsible for catching your fish, along with the their home port in Cornwall.
Delivery is free on orders over £50.
Orders placed before 10pm Monday – Wednesday arrive 48 hours after. Orders placed Thursday -Sunday are delivered on Wednesday.
£8.95 postage fee applies on orders under £50 that contain chilled goods.
