Haddock, a close relative of cod, is a popular choice with flaky, mildly sweet white flesh. It’s smaller than cod and marked by a dark lateral line and black spots above pectoral fins.

£10.5 per kilo (whole fish)

When Haddock is in season

Haddock is a very popular alternative to cod. Although it’s not as easily bought from the small inshore boats, it is often in fine condition when landed by some of the netters.

Haddock is a member of the cod family and shares some similarities, including a flaky white flesh and a mild, slightly sweet flavour. However, it is distinguished by its smaller size, distinctive dark lateral line running down its silvery-grey body and a black spot above each pectoral fin.
